Think Spring!

My Custom Artwork
I decided to put up this page to explain how I do my various
paintings. Most of my drawings are digitally done in Corel's Painter 8
and 9 programs (soon to be 10 if they fix the problems). I discovered
Painter about 3 years ago and it freed me to go back to drawing without
guilt. See when you're on a budget and have 4 kids sometimes things
that are extras like hobbies tend to lose appeal as supply costs are
weighed against other things. Painter changed that for me. No longer
did I have to worry about how many times I started something over
before it felt "right". Don't like it? Delete it! With all the brushes,
mediums, and paper textures available the possibilities are endless.
Each drawing I do is taken directly from a photograph or a series of
photos, an ear from this, an eye from that. I do like to use my own
photos and my own dogs as subjects. That way I can capture them and
their personalities. Most of the time my photography stands on its own
and I do have a Gallery
of recent photos. I do love the Gallery and
possibly will be switching the dog site format to named galleries
instead of pages.
Each sketch starts life as a pencil sketch for water color or
pastel. After it is blocked out roughly where each color goes then
color is applied layer after layer until finished. See below.
